A DIFFERENT KIND OF RESCUE
We're Not Just About Dogs and I'm Not Chelsea!
Our already struggling educational system is doing its best to rebound from the increased learning and social-emotional gaps brought on by the pandemic. As experienced and specialized educators, we would like to assist in those efforts by providing an innovative approach to learning by incorporating the proven power of animal-based reading therapies.

SMOKEY AND BANDIT
These two are probably not from the same litter, but were dumped at the same time. Bandit is clearly Smokey's sidekick and the smaller of the two. Both have been completely vaccinated and are on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. They have also both been recently neutered given their one year rabies vaccination. All they need now is a loving home where they can lay around with their new family. As recent graduates of our summer reading program, "Rescue Readers", they have both been trained in basic commands (sit, stay, down, and walking on a leash) by students as young as 5.

GABE (GABRIEL)
8 week old male Border Collie/??? mix
Gabriel is the most "chill" of all the puppies. He is Border Collie/Heeler mixed with an unknown breed. He has a very fluffy white coat with some black spots here and there. He is content to play with his litter mates, or wander off by himself. He also does not mind sleeping apart from his siblings. He should be a low/med energy level when out of the puppy stage. He has received his first round of vaccinations and preventatives. Gabe is 8 weeks and available for adoption on 2/8/22.

6 month old male Heeler/Border Collie Mix
MURRAY (MYRRH-EE)
Murray has the most energy and is the fastest of the bunch. He loves to play and antagonize his playmates. Once tuckered out, he likes to cuddle. He is fearless and will need a home that can give him the time and energy his playful disposition requires. Murray has all his shots and has been neutered He is available for adoption.  As a recent graduate of our summer reading program, "Rescue Readers", he has been trained in basic commands (sit, stay, down, and walking on a leash) by students as young as 5.

FRANK (FRANKINCENSE)
8 week old male Border Collie Mix
Frank is the SWEETEST and most easy going of them all. He has the body of breed with shorter legs and a longer torso like a (Basset Hound or Corgi). Frank LOVES to cuddle and is always the first to go to bed. He has received his first round of shots and preventatives. He will be available for adoption on 2-8-22.

GOLDY
6 month old female Border Collie Mix
Goldy is the only female and leader of the bunch. She is the largest (although still petite) of the bunch. She is very active and curious. Goldy loves to play, and once worn out, will snuggle. Her energy level is Med/High. She has had all of her vaccines and is spayed. Goldy is available for adoption.  As a recent graduate of our summer reading program, "Rescue Readers", she has been trained in basic commands (sit, stay, down, and walking on a leash) by students as young as 5.

2 year old female Pit Mix
OREO
Oreo was rescued A little over a year ago after being chained to a closed business overnight. She gave birth to 6 beautiful puppies a little more than 24 hours later. She has obviously been mistreated (most likely by a male) as she becomes fearful easily and barks until she knows she can trust you. She is currently doing well in a foster home with 2 cats! She gets along well with other dogs, but has never been around small children. She is NOT a good fit for a first time pet owner and will require someone with A LOT of patience. Once you earn her trust, she will be your constant and loving companion. Oreo is crate and leash trained, housebroken, follows basic commands, is fully vaccinated and spayed. She is heartworm negative and living in the Temple area of Texas.

JACKSON
One year old male Red Hound
Jackson is short for Jacksonville. We rescued him on one of our trips up before moving. He is a sweet, energetic unaltered, red hound. He gets along well with other dogs, and does well on a leash. He is crate trained and heartworm negative. Only one of his testicles has descended, so he has yet to be neutered. Jackson loves to run, play, bark, and DIG (when left unsupervised too long). He has HIGH energy and needs a home that has the same type of lifestyle.

2 year old female Shepherd Mix
DIXIE
Dixie was an owner surrender who was to provide/raise funding for her spay. That didn't happened, so we are in the process of scheduling her surgery. His reason was that he lived in an apartment, worked a lot, and had another dog to take care of. She is a very sweet, loyal, and loving girl. She is crate trained, house broken, walks well on a leash, and knows basic commands. She does not do well with cats and has not been around young children. Dixie has been fully vaccinated and is on prevention. She is heartworm negative and is awaiting scheduling of spay. She can be adopted with a spay deposit if the new owners would rather take care of this themselves.

MERRY
2 year old Border Collie Mix
Merry was a stray who had overstayed her welcome in northern Texas animal pound a week before Christmas. She was sent to be euthanized but gave birth before they could do so. A cry went out for a Christmas Miracle to save her and her 4 babies. Needing a Christmas miracle ourselves, we answered the call. Merry is such a sweet, timid, little thing with more love to give than her tiny body can hold. She thus wags her whole self, melts to the ground, and rolls to her back when you speak to her sweetly. She has wonderful manners and trainability. She is house broken, crate trained, and knows basic commands. She is still trying to get used to a leash, but responds to verbal recall. Although her breed is a cattle-dog breed, she is very much a people-loving canine that would make the perfect companion animal. She desperately needs a person to call her very own, as we have already been claimed! Merry is going to be in a foster to adopt home after her puppies have found homes and she is spayed. She has been fully vaccinated and is on preventatives. She is heartworm negative.
